Leidos Receives Gold Edison Award for DARPA Unmanned Vessel Devt Project Support

Leidos has received a gold 2017 Edison Award under the tactical and industrial technology category for its support of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency‘s Anti-Submarine Warfare Continuous Trail Unmanned Vessel program.

The company accepted the award during the 30th annual Edison Awards ceremony held Thursday in New York City, Leidos said Friday.

Mike Chagnon, president of Leidos’ advanced solutions group, said the company is pleased to collaborate with DARPA on the ACTUV program and that the award seeks to recognize the firm’s efforts to develop maritime autonomy platforms and mature technologies in support of clients’ operational needs.

The agency intends for ACTUV to autonomously travel across the open seas for months.

A panel of at least 3,000 business leaders in the fields of science, engineering, medicine, design and product development judged the nominees for the Edison Awards.
