Optum Hires Retired Army Lt. Gen. Patricia Horoho to Support Military, Veteran Health Business

Patricia Horoho, a retired U.S. Army lieutenant general, has joined Optum to lead the company’s efforts to deliver information technology-based support services to active duty military personnel, veterans and their families.

She will be responsible for helping align Optum’s healthcare technology, operations and data analytics offerings with its government support experience in efforts to develop products and services for U.S. veterans and military health system, the company said Monday.

Horoho holds the distinction of being the first nurse and woman to serve as Army surgeon general and head of the Army Medical Command.

The 33-year Army veteran also serves as member of the American Association of Nurse Executives and a fellow at the American Academy of Nursing.

Eden Prairie, Minnesota-based Optum currently provides preventive health screenings and assessments to current and former service members as well as leads a collaborative project to update clinical practice guidelines for the departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs.
