Cisco Donates Tech, Expertise to Mercy Corps Humanitarian Aid Programs

Cisco has pledged to donate expertise, technology and advisory services to Mercy Corps as part of a five-year, $10 million collaborative effort that seeks to accelerate the nonprofit organization’s delivery of humanitarian aid and development assistance worldwide.

The partnership aims integrate digital platforms into programs that work to help improve quality of life of people facing crisis and increase community resilience, Cisco said Wednesday.

The company will also offer cash grants through the partnership and help Mercy Corps professionals use analytical tools to make decisions as well as protect sensitive data.

“We believe we can apply the same technology and expertise that help our customers succeed to also help solve the world’s most challenging problems,” said Tae Yoo, senior vice president of corporate affairs at Cisco.

The collaboration will also include field research and technology model tests, sharing of learnings and platforms with other humanitarian and private sector organizations.

Cisco and Mercy Corps aim to reach more than 11 million people worldwide through the initiative.
