Referentia Systems‘ Cyber Collaboration Center will hold training sessions on a new Defense Department policy that requires contractors to adopt measures to protect a new category of unclassified but sensitive information called “Covered Defense Information.”
The DFARS 7012 Cybersecurity Compliance Boot Camp will include forums on Oct. 20 at the Hilton San Diego Airport/Harbor Island in California and on Oct. 23 at the Cyber Collaboration Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, Referentia’s eResilience division said Tuesday.
The training sessions will also be live-streamed nationwide.
Event speakers will include Vicki Michetti from the office of the DoD chief information officer; Mary Thomas from the office of the secretary of defense; and Tim Williams, technical director of eResilience.
A new clause under the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations Supplement that requires defense contractors handling CDI to implement a wide range of security controls by Dec. 31.
OSD issued guidance that calls on contracting officers to specify types of information that will be considered CDI under contracts, and urges contractors to assess organizational and infrastructural changes they need to make to comply with DFARS requirements.
The boot camp is intended to help companies identify those required changes, eResilience noted.
